Ingredients:
For Kadhi:
- Curd – 1 cup (slightly sour)
- Gram Flour – 3 tbsp
- Turmeric – 1/4 tsp
- Red Chilli Powder – 1/2 tsp
- Salt – as per taste
- Water – 3-4 cups
- Asafoetida – 1 pinch
- Fenugreek seeds – 1/2 tsp
- Mustard seeds – 1/2 tsp
- Curry leaves – 6–8
- Dried red chillies – 1–2
- Oil – 2 tbsp
For pakodas:
- Gram flour – 1 cup
- Onion – 1 (finely chopped, optional)
- Celery – 1/4 tsp
- Green chilli – 1 (finely chopped)
- Salt – as per taste
- Water – as per need
- Oil – for frying
For rice:
- Basmati rice – 1 cup
- Water – 2 cups
- Salt – as per taste

Step 1: Prepare pakodas
- In a bowl, add gram flour, onion, green chilli, celery, salt and water and prepare the batter.
- Fry small pakodas in hot oil till they turn golden and take them out on tissue paper.
Step 2: Make the curry
- Beat curd and gram flour well in a vessel so that there are no lumps. Add turmeric, salt, red chilli and 3 cups of water to it.
- Heat oil in a pan, add a tempering of asafoetida, mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, curry leaves and dried red chillies.
- Now add the gram flour-curd mixture and let it boil while stirring continuously.
- Then cook on low flame for 20–25 minutes so that the curry thickens.
Step 3: Add pakodas
- When the curry is cooked, add the fried pakodas to it and cook for 5 minutes.
- If you want to add tempering on top, you can do it separately.
Step 4: Make rice
- Wash the rice and cook it with 2 cups of water and a little salt in a pressure cooker for 1 whistle or boil it in a pot.
- Serve the rice with the curry when it is ready.
