Ingredients:
For Chicken Marination:
- Boneless Chicken – 500 gms (cut into cubes)
- Curd – 1/2 cup
- Ginger-Garlic Paste – 1 tbsp
- Lemon Juice – 1 tbsp
- Red Chilli Powder – 1 tsp
- Turmeric – 1/2 tsp
- Garam masala – 1/2 tsp
- Salt – according to taste
- Oil – 1 tbsp
For gravy:
- Onion – 2 finely chopped
- Tomatoes – 3 chopped
- Cashews – 10-12
- Ginger-garlic – 1 tbsp
- Cream – 3 tbsp
- Kasuri methi – 1 tsp
- Butter – 2 tbsp
- Oil – 1 tbsp
Spices:
- Turmeric – 1/4 tsp
- Red chilli powder – 1 tsp
- Coriander powder – 1 tsp
- Garam masala – 1/2 tsp
- Salt – according to taste
- Sugar – 1/2 tsp (for balance)
Step-by-Step to make Chicken Tikka Masala Method:

Step 1: Marinate the chicken
- Add curd, lemon juice, ginger-garlic paste, red chilli, turmeric, garam masala and salt to the chicken.
- Refrigerate for at least 1 hour (overnight for best results).
Step 2: Grill the chicken
- Apply light oil on the grill pan or tawa and cook the chicken pieces until golden and lightly charred.
- If you have an oven, you can bake at 200°C for 15 minutes.
Step 3: Prepare the gravy base
- Add oil and butter in a pan. Add onions and fry till golden.
- Add ginger-garlic and then add tomatoes and cashews and cook for 5 minutes.
- When cooled, grind in a mixer to make a smooth paste.
Step 4: Make the gravy
- Put the paste back in the pan.
- Add turmeric, red chilli powder, coriander powder, salt and sugar.
- Cook for 5–7 minutes, then add grilled chicken.
- Add cream and kasuri methi.
- Cover and cook on low flame for 10 minutes.
